SDCC 09: Jeff Soto - Seeker vinyl toy video and pictures

Bigshot Toyworks is showing the initial prototypes of the new Seeker project by Jeff Soto. Sculpted digitally, the Seeker is shown in two different sizes created on a rapid prototyping machine. At this point the design is fluid and may or may not include the plane which was part of the original source painting. The possibility of the smaller figure being produced is being discussed as well. Check the video above to hear Jeff talk about the project.

Jeff Soto Seeker painting for the SDCC

Comicon this weekend and a bunch of shows and parties (check previous entries or look around online). Here's Jeff Soto's piece for Mark Murphy's Scribble 08 film screening and exhibit for Thursday night...
"Seekers" 20" x 18", acrylic on wood, 2009.

Really hope he turns this into a print, very cool looking and a good companion to his vinyl toy he is releasing.

Jeff Soto The Seeker Vinyl Toy at SDCC

Introducing "The Seeker". Jeff has been working on several top secret projects with Bigshot Toyworks the past couple months and this is the first of the large vinyl toys they have in the works. He is super excited about jumping back into toys. I can not wait to see what else they come up with.

They will have something to see at Comicon, go see them at booth #4833 for more info.

Walrus TV Artist Feature: Jeff Soto Interview from “The Run Up”

There’s always that theme of conflict, of man versus nature, and usually nature seems to win.
-Jeff Soto

Jeff Soto’s intricate paintings are built of robotic figures and sprawling, organic landscapes. As a prominent member of the Lowbrow (or Pop Surrealism) art movement, the influence of graffiti, pop culture, and comics is quickly apparent. Yet nature always remains the crux of his work, as he’s interested in the ways we are affecting our environment. Jeff Soto’s work has appeared as commissioned illustrations and in galleries throughout the United States and Europe. Watch the interview from “The Run Up,” available for the first time to the public for free, on Walrus TV

Jeff Soto has a secret print coming out this Tuesday the 7th of July, it will launch at 7:30pm EDT on Tiny Showcase.

Tiny Showcase keeps the image secret, but I can say the print is small in size, has an edition of 200, and priced at $20. A percentage of the money from each print sold will be donated to Sea Shepherd. Good luck!
