UNDERCOVER BEAR KAWS COMPANION FIGURE

Jun Takahashi of UNDERCOVER puts us on this latest collaboration toy featuring both the work of UNDERCOVER and KAWS. Culminiating in the UNDERCOVER BEAR KAWS COMPANION, you can expect this piece of design to have a far-reach hitting various demographics as it comes in both tonal black and off-white versons. The UNDERCOVER BEAR KAWS COMPANION will release on August 28th at UNDERCOVER locations across Japan with a suggested retail price of ¥12,800 JPY (approximately $135 USD). Hopefully KAWS will have some on his site soon after.

Amongst various topics, KAWS chimes in on his recent collaboration with famed Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama, his mentality on the current state of graffiti, and chats a bit about his clothing line, OriginalFake.

Original Fake 4 Feet Dissected Companion | Grey

Word on the internet is Kaws will release a second 4FT Dissected Companion in a total grey colorway. “Not for the faint of heart or the spatially deprived, these monsters will be set loose at the end of the month to those lucky few OriginalFake account holders. Much like the original Brown version, this monochromatic colorway will most likely be in an edition of 100 and retail for approximately $6000US. No word yet on an official kawsone.com online release, so for those interested keep an eye out at your local OF retailer.”

Hajime Sorayama x OriginalFake KAWS Companion

OriginalFake pulls the covers off their next highly anticipated collectible offering, the Sorayama Companion. The coming together of Hajime Sorayama’s Future Mickey Mouse and Companion is reflected in the robotic implementations as well as the metallic finish which go alongside the familiar KAWS Companion character. The re-appropriation is cast in metal with some unconfirmed details including a height of 33 cm (approximately 13 inches) and a weight of 3 kg (approximately 6.6 lbs). Pricing has been also suggested anywhere from $963 USD (¥92,400 JPY) - $1100 USD. The figure will be released this coming Saturday at Original Fake Tokyo. The artists have worked for almost three years on the figure, to make sure that they are getting it right! We think they sure did!

After the Companion Keyrings, the Chum character is now up for the treatment by Original Fake. For those of you that missed the actual toy releases since 1998, here is your chance to get a piece of this great character by Kaws. The keyring comes in overall 5 colorways and they will be released at colette on June 26th.

KAWS x Sorayama Figure new details

We just caught wind of this upcoming figure collaboration between KAWS and Hajimie Sorayama. Based off the signature on the sketch, its clear this conceptual design was illustrated by Sorayama, however KAWS hinted to the project on his Dec. 2 blog post, noting the two had started working on the project a few years ago. The sculpture will be cast in metal and is a hybrid of the KAWS Companion with Sorayama’s Future Mickey Mouse (pictured above), which was also released by Medicom Toys. We can only guess this guy will be called Future Companion, continuing the ongoing progression of the character that KAWS has already developed, from the Original, through the Five Year Later versions.The figure will come in two colorways - silver/chrome and black/chrome. Matching the figure, two t-shirts will also be released, featuring the graphic that you see here above. The figure will be priced at 1400 USD and the t-shirts will go for about 112 USD. We will let you know once we have a release date.

KAWS OriginalFake 4 Feet Dissected Companion leak photos

After two grey versions and a black version that was seen, but never released, we get a first look today at the next 4 feet Companion figure from Original Fake. The next large scale toy will be the dissected Companion from artist Kaws. The release date has not been announced yet, but expect something very soon.

The five plastic keychains are based on Kaws 5YL Companions and come in a variety of monochromatic and clear colorways. Each keychain is 2 inches tall. At first glance (look at the shoes and gloves), QC looks not great. But it’s all relative when it comes to owning a Kaws mini I suppose. Here’s a thread over at KR where some people already have them in hand. These will probably make an appearance at KawsOne in the future.

Kaws at Honor Fraser Gallery in Los Angeles

KAWS has done LA. Make no mistake about it, Kaws deserves every bit of the hype and praise he is currently receiving, the dude is creating his best work to date.
